The tournament

One day, one venue, four brackets

Open / 001 is the first tournament under the Padel Heads Laboratory name. Four categories, real brackets and a prize pool that is worth the drive. It runs on a Saturday, from check-in in the morning to Diggitality on vinyl at night, and it is the template every Open after this one follows.

Who it is forM6, M5, F6 and F5 — from confident beginners to solid intermediates. No pros, no sandbagging.
What you getThree matches minimum, a welcome pack, your matches on video, drinks, and the afterparty.
Who runs itPadel Heads Laboratory. Referees on the finals, a single bracket board, one person answering your messages.
Why it mattersSeason one starts here. Winners of 001 are seeded first in 002.

Location

The venue is not booked yet

Open / 001 is in Lisbon. Which club it is in has not been signed, so this page does not name one. What we are looking for is a single site that can run four categories in one day, rather than a good club that would need two.

What we needOne site, four categories, one day
DateTo be announced

Until there is a signature there is no club name here, no address and no photograph. A venue you can see pictures of reads as a venue that is booked, and this one is not. When it is signed it goes up here, in the chat and to everyone on the list, on the same day.

Prizes

€1,300 in cash, plus everything the partners put on the table

The pool is split equally across the four categories. Women play for the same money as men — that is the point, not a gesture. Partner prizes sit on top: product, vouchers and drinks handed over on camera.

€1 300prize pool · cash
Winning pair€250 per category
Finalist pair€50 per category
Head of the Open€100

Head of the Open is voted by the players at the awards: the one who made the day. Not always the winner.

01

Prize Partner

Your product goes into the prize stack and is handed to the winners on camera. Your logo sits on the bracket page and on the certificates.

You give: product
02

Category Partner

You own one of the four brackets: "MEN M5 presented by You". The €250 goes out in your envelope, your roll-up stands on that court, the final reel is yours.

You give: product or cash
03

Voucher Wall

Every player leaves with your voucher in the welcome pack, on a code only we use. You see exactly how many people came back — that number decides whether we do it again.

You give: discount codes
04

Afterhours Partner

You cover the bar at the Diggitality party. Your brand is on the booth, in the night reel and in every photo from the room.

You give: drinks

Cash is paid out on the day, in full, in front of everyone. Partner prizes are handed over at the same moment. Nothing is paid in "credits" or vouchers that expire in a week.

Finals, awards, then vinyl.

Diggitality is the founder's own party series: vinyl only, 200 to 300 people, Lisbon nights that end at sunrise. Open / 001 does not finish at the last point. Awards happen on the decks, then the room turns into the party.

List is open

How many pairs we take depends on the venue, and the venue is not signed, so there is no cap written here yet. Joining the list costs nothing and holds your place in the order the requests arrived.

Rules & questions

Read this before you sign up

Short rules, no fine print. If something here does not work for you, say so before the draw rather than on the day.

On court
  1. Group matches are one set to 9 games with a tie-break at 8–8. Golden point on deuce — no advantage, one point decides.
  2. Semifinals and finals are best of three, with a 10-point tie-break instead of a third set.
  3. No referee in the groups. You call your own lines and keep your own score; if you disagree, replay the point.
  4. Be at your court when it is called. Ten minutes late is a 1–0 penalty, twenty minutes is a walkover.
  5. Play your level. If a pair is clearly above its category, we move it up and the result stands for the new bracket.
  6. One pair, one category. You cannot enter two brackets, and a partner swap after the draw needs our OK.
Questions
What do I bring?

A racket, court shoes and water. Balls, bibs and the welcome pack are on us. Bring a second shirt — it is a long day.

My partner drops out. What now?

Tell us as early as you can. We hold a short reserve list and will try to pair you again inside your category; if that fails, your entry rolls to Open / 002 or you get the money back.

When do I pay?

Not now. Payment details come with your confirmation, after the date and venue are announced. Nothing is charged before that.

What if it rains?

Eight of the ten courts are covered, so the tournament runs. If the weather takes out the outdoor courts, the schedule tightens and we play on.

Can I come just to watch or party?

Yes. Spectators are free, and there are party-only tickets for the afterhours. Bring people — that is the whole point.

How are the groups drawn?

By level and by hand, not at random. Pairs we do not know get seeded from what you write in the level field, which is why it is worth being honest there.
